Harsh Days That's Post-MBBS

post mbbs career neet imbroglioHard times. Life at a juncture where you have spent six years of your life going through the rigors of an MBBS course and an even harsher internship where you have worked day and night learning and practicing life saving management but still you are nowhere. After so much of labor, when you see your engineering friends settled in life and marrying with jobs, you are nowhere. As today's health-conscious, specialist-minded generation will say, you are a 'paati MBBS daktar' as if you are quack despite so many years of knowledge and practice. And to add to that, the pre-specialization entrance exams are all on hold, thanks to the legal tussle between MCI and private medical colleges and some state universities over the conduct of NEET-PG -the single-umbrella exam to get admission to any MD or MS seat in any medical college of India. Despite the uninformed preponement of exam that was held last November, the results are yet to be declared, courtesy a superfast-issued stay order barring declaration of results. The court was so quick to issue a stay order but working at snail's pace to issue a verdict or even an interim order so that the one lakh medical graduates get to know where they are at present so that they can plan their next course of action or inaction accordingly. Now neither can they concentrate on their studies for the next pg entrance exam about which everything is uncertain nor can they devote their full time in patientcare. The gloom of indecision and uncertainty over the future of the cream of Indian students is toiling hard on their minds and the inevitable impact will be on healthcare delivery..
